Ibrahima Niang


Piniang was born in 1976, in Dakar; he frequented the Dakar's National School of Fine Art (E.N.B.A) from 1995 to 1999. He also learned Multimedia and animation at the Pictoon studio of animation of Dakar. He is a painter, video director and installation maker.

Piniang is currently teaching animation at the Dakar's School of Fine Art (E.N.B.A). He lives and works in Dakar and his work has been represented in the high places of African Contemporary Art and elsewhere in the world: The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York, The Malmö Museum in Sweden (Malmö Dakar), the Jean Paul Blachère Foundation in APT, The Dapper Museum in Paris (Senegal contemporain) and the Princessehof Leeuwarden museum in Holland (Boumbaclaque). He participated at the last Biennial of contemporary art at Rennes, France. The first African Art summit for visual art...ARESUVA by the National gallery of Lagos. He was awarded by the Jean Paul Blachère Foundation during the Biennial Dak'art 2006, He was also awarded by the Thamgidi studio foundation in Holland, Dakar's Biennial Dak'art 2008, The Djamilatou Bikami award, of the French association (chantier de la lune) and the (Goupe 30) of Senegal. He was the third public award of the United Europeans, Biennial Dak'art 2008.
