Hama Goro was born in 1963 in a Dogon village called Dinangourou. He began his artistic career in 1987 after studying at the National Institute of Arts in Bamako (INA), where he graduated in drawing and visual arts. After several solo and group exhibitions in Mali and in the world, he received the UNESCO - ASCHBERG award in 1994 for professional training Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. On returning to Mali, he has been involved in research for the development of the visual arts and was one of the main initiators of the Sun Central Africa in Bamako in 1999.

To better ensure its cultural operator role, he took several courses in Management, Project Management and from 2007 to 2009, Management in Artistic and Cultural Action at the Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers Multimedia Mali. Goro is a founding member of KYA Network (Network of Malian cultural actors) for the promotion and development of art and culture in Mali, Arterial Network and the RAIN Network amongst others.

Today he is an artist, curator, director of Centre Soleil d'Afrique and General Treasurer KYA Network and acts as supervisor, consultant and member of the jury in several projects.
