Mark Antonello is the Academic Subject Coordinator of Photography at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography, South Africa. He is a graduate of the Michaelis School of Fine Art (University of Cape Town), majoring in photography. He is the recipient of the Irma Stern Art Award 2003 for his graduate work. In 2004 he attained his Masters in Film and Television production at the Institute for Film and New Media at UCT. His Masters included being tutored by guest lecturer Boris Frumin from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. He has exhibited his photography & video art in various group exhibitions with notable South African artists in France and in South Africa.

In 2014 Antonello has taken on the role in partnership with Stellenbosch Academy as Creative Director of SHIFT Stellenbosch. This is an official project representing the Stellenbosch area in conjunction with World Design Capital that is hosted in Cape Town throughout the year. Through his career he has filmed and photographed bands: Motley Crue, Machine Head, Lacuna Coil, Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, The Feeling, Feeder and Evanescence. His work has taken him throughout the UK, Europe and Africa.
